Street dance, also informally referred to as street, is an umbrella term which encompasses as range of dance styles characterized by descriptions such as hip hop, funk, breaking, and housing. The styles change to the music and beats that are played. Styles that will be taught in class would consist of popping, animation, break-dancing, krumping, locking, and housing.

Street Dance – Grades 4-8

  • Hair needs to be pulled up off the face and neck and must be out of your eyes.
  • Short hair: Clipped away from the face.Long hair:  Hair must be pulled back and worn up off the neck.
  • Wear form fitting dance wear such as a leotard and footless tights or a dance tank top with dance pants/yoga pants. (Dance shorts over tights are fine too). Black is preferable for Modern.
  • Flat bottom, high top Converse sneakers, all black.  They must be used for dance only and not as street shoes.  Also, knee pads and longer pants (like sweats).
